Bicycling to Independence Mine

Decided to try something a little different: a hill climb on my mountain bike with 3,000 feet of elevation gain. This one is looking up towards my eventual destination.
The Little Susitna River at the so called gateway to Hatcher Pass. The climbing starts here.
At the hairpin by the Motherlode Lodge which can only mean one thing...
...Time to really start climbing.
Looking South at Pioneer Peak from 16-mile.
Going around the corner into upper Fishhook Valley
Finally at Independence Mine, 3000 feet above my starting point. To be honest, this ride was a lot more difficult than I thought it would be. The last 1,000 or so feet of vertical tested my resolve to say the least. But now that I'm up here, time to go for a hike.
I went up Gold Cord Peak a little ways. This is looking towards Microdot and the Rae Wallace chutes. The terrain on the upper mountain is pretty rough, and seeing as how I was by myself and essentially had no gas left in the tank I went halfway up and just chilled there for a while, eating lunch and even laying down for a little rest.
Looking South down Fishhook Valley. Independence Mine directly below and Skyscraper is the big looking mountain on the right.
It's me!
The Pinnacle.
