Starting the ascent.

I look really happy for some reason. It's probably because I've got the tele gear; light and fast baby, light and fast.

This picture is looking down on Hatcher Pass. It does a good job of showing how meager the snowpack is in the Talkeetna Mountains right now.

This picture also shows the lack of snow. On the way down I took my skis off and walked down this section.

There was some unusual lighting up there for a while...

...And then it started to snow.

We turned back after we got to the bowl. This proved to be a wise choice as the snow really started falling on our way down. By the time I got back to the parking lot and looked back up it was a total whiteout on Hatch Peak. Good call by us on turning around.
